“Please Be Careful with My Heart” (The Meaning of Love)

love

To preach the biblical meaning of love.

Text: 1 John 3: 16-18

1 John 3: 16-18
16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

What is Love?
  • LOVE CAN SACRIFICE
  • REAL LOVE NEEDS PROPER RESPONSE
  • LOVE IS AN ACTION WORD
LOVE CAN SACRIFICE
  • Able to sacrifice the most important thing (V.16)
REAL LOVE NEEDS PROPER RESPONSE
  • We learned to love, because we first experienced real love from God (V. 16)
  • Don’t love and lie, because true love can be verified by truth! (V.18)
LOVE IS AN ACTION WORD
  • What is the use of your love if the one you really love can’t feel it?
  • We can express our love through simple ways.
  • Don’t let the opportunity pass by without expressing your love to someone. The perfect time is now!

CONCLUSION:
  • We don’t need to wait for Valentine’s Day to express our love to someone; everyday is a perfect time to let the ones you love that you care for them.
  • True love was expressed by the Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us so we can be reconciled with God. Because of his supreme sacrifice, we can now have eternal life.
  • Expressing your love is not about material things. There are a lot of ways to let the ones you love know that you really love them.
  • Love and lies can’t go together. Love can be verified by truth.
  • Express your love while you have the chance. Don’t let the moment pass you by!
